From Ruins to Stars

Story Synopsis

In a near-future where Earth becomes uninhabitable, humanity migrates to Mars. To support colonists’ physical and psychological well-being during the prolonged journey, an AI companion, Echo, is created from recycled materials. Echo provides emotional comfort, helps maintain health, and reveals human traces that persist even in space.

Character & Setting design

Description Sheet

1. Floating ice (Images 1-368)

Ice melt and drift; movement is slow and fluid.

Technique:  Houdini simulates

2. Icebergs collapse (Images 369–750)

Icebergs collapse and fall into the ocean. Fast-paced destruction.

Technique: Houdini simulates
3. Garbage-filled ocean depths (Images 751–1152)

Garbage floats and sinks; mechanical arm movements collect debris.

Technique: Stop motion

4. Garbage is processed in the lab; Echo is created (Images 1153–2090)

Lab machinery assembles Echo; smooth mechanical precision.

Technique: Stop motion
5. Echo’s rocket launches for Mars (Images 2091–2186)

Rocket launch; dynamic fire and smoke trails.

Technique: Stop motion
6.  Echo cares for crew members during their journey (Images 2187–3139)

Echo interacts with crew members, fluid motion mimicking zero-gravity.

Technique: 3D animation+ AIGC interpolate the in-between frames

7. Space debris is revealed (Images 3140–3930)

Space debris drifts. Echo reflects as the spacecraft continues; slow, melancholic movement.
